Summer Workshop: Tile making

In this workshop you will be taught how to make four tiles. You will be taught how to roll out clay, cut the clay and decorate the tiles. You will experiment with different techniques such as sgraffito and using coloured slips. These tiles can be used a wall decoration or coasters. (Note. tiles will be left with us at the end of the session to be dried, fired, glazed and fired again. This will take around 2-3 weeks and they can then be collected).

All materials provided. We will be using clay and coloured pigments so wear old clothes or bring an apron.

Skill level

Suitable for all. This workshop is suitable for complete beginners as well as those with some experience of working with clay. Over 16s only.

Travel

High Brooms railway station is approx. 15 minutes walk from the studio and provides direct train links to London and the South East. There is a metered car park (Yew Tree road) located 5 minutes walk from the studio, and some on street parking is available. London Road has regular bus services from Tunbridge Wells, Tonbridge and surrounding areas. 

Accessibility

The studio is on the ground floor, with one step at the threshold. Please get in touch if you have any questions about access and we will be happy to chat about it in more detail and do what we can to accommodate you.
