What You Will Learn

Learn to make monoprints without a press. A superbly simple process which crosses between drawing, printmaking and painting whilst embracing chance and accident. The results can be evocative, atmospheric, expressive, textured, linear and much more.

Students will take home a series of monoprints (minimum 2-4) and the understanding of how to make them at home.

What to bring

Everything you need for the workshop will be provided including aprons but please wear something you don’t mind getting dirty.

Your tutor for the day: Eleanor May Watson

Eleanor May Watson is a visual artist working primarily in paint and print. Creating images of home and domesticity in which to contemplate memory, longing, desire and belonging. Eleanor completed her masters in Fine Art at City and Guilds of London Art School in 2019 where she was awarded the Slaughterhaus Print Prize and the ACS Studio Prize. Most recently, Eleanor was awarded the Eames Fine Art Award at the Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair (2021). Eleanor is an experienced and enthusiastic teacher.

Schedule on the day

Please arrive at the studio at 9.45am ready for the workshop to begin promptly at 10am.

We will have a tea break in the morning and afternoon and we will provide hot drinks and biscuits - let us know if you have any allergies/requirements. Please bring lunch, or alternatively buy lunch at one of the wonderful local cafes: Early Grey Tear rooms next door, Hana or Yatra just a short walk away. 

Travel

High Brooms railway station is approx. 15 minutes walk from the studio and provides direct train links to London and the South East. There is a metered car park (Yew Tree road) located 5 minutes walk from the studio, and on street parking is available.

Accessibility

The studio is on the ground floor. There is one step internally to access the WC or there is flush access to an external WC to the rear. Please get in touch if you have any questions about access and we will be happy to chat about it in more detail and do what we can to accommodate you.

Cancellations & Covid Policy

Bookings for our workshops and studio sessions are non-refundable. Please check the dates and details above carefully before you confirm your booking.

If government restrictions dictate that we need to cancel the workshop for any reason due to Covid-19 will refund the total cost of the workshop. When we are able to reschedule, we will offer first refusal to those who previously signed up.
